A savvy planner, observant photographer and post production whizkid, Steph can always be counted on to see things through to completion. Clients love her, colleagues respect her, and Liam would be completely disorganized without her. Steph’s ability to balance practicality with creativity ensures that quality always comes out on top, and her beyond-her-years talent advanced her from assistant to goddess status at Applehead in no time.
In addition to being a fiercely independent young woman fueled by Pepsi + Popeye Cigarettes, Steph is a twin sister, thrill seeker, and semi-regular-occasional yogi. She’s compassionate, nurturing and reliable, and has a tendency to beg for forgiveness rather than ask for permission. Case in point? She’ll break into buildings and scale unscalable trees for a better shot.
Tell us what your one must-have piece of gear is and why:
My gear changes from year to year but I consistently use a Nikon camera with a 35mm lens. Right now I really love the Sigma 35mm lens and could use that and only that if I had to.
Tell us what your one must-have piece of software is and why:
Lightroom. No question. It gives you the ability to take your photo to a level that I believe is impossible in camera. There’s nothing I love more than a good before and after.
What’s your advice for someone just starting out?
Starting out I wish I had known that you won’t get better by wishing you were better, you get better by shooting consistently. Which is something that I’m still working on. Shoot all the time. Your photography will get better and if nothing else you’ll have a solid archive of the little details of your day to day life that you’ll most likely forget in time.
